Games: What games are you currently playing? [OT!]

Nope, your right, you dont need to mod to use the PS2 HDD to preinstall games, even in europe. However you will need to use a slidecard technique, or a mod chip, to install NTSC games. Alternatively you can use your PC to rip and transfer the PS2 game file onto the Hard Drive, but thats obviously quite a lot of hassle.
Im considering buying into the wole HDD+HD Advance thing, since it'd probably mean i can play Xenosaga, as well as other foreign games without having to test the durability of my PS2 with that notoriously risky Slide Card technique. That, and the cut down loading times.

Also, i realize that you've got a lot of games on your list right now, but have you given MGS3 a go yet? I need some conversation on its awesomeness. >.>

Awesome. Ive just passed a section with 1 hour worth of solid cut-scenes and dialogue, and am extremely pleased with the way its turned out. Right now, its looking superior to MGS2 in every way (from music, to gameplay, to storyline), although it remains to be seen whether it tops the original games story.
On that note, its probably not the best place to start for newcomers or mainstream gamers; it really throws you in the deep end as far as controls go, since it bulds on the features of MGS2 (which in turn built itself upon the controls of MGS). Also the movie-length cut-scenes are as prominent as ever, which could throw off some casual gamers.
In all, you'd definately enjoy it having played the last two.

How long has Xenosaga II kept you going so far?

Still playing Castlevania Symphony of the night And the game is becoming more and more interesting! not story-wise, which is pretty soft, i mean, it doesn't count towards the game play too much, but is fun to see, but music, animation and playabilty are impressive. I thank is not a game which pierce your ears with electronic music or heavy metal. Though sound FX could be better, but i'm fine with it.

I'm very sorry to say this, but I last time I checked DVD9 games like Xenosaga did not work with the HD loader . I hope I'm wrong and there's some fix today.

Republic Commando is so much fun, however it will be most likely a rental for those who don't care for Star Wars/FPS games that much.

IRT Wiseman - Yeah, no worries, i knew it wouldnt work for the same reasons Swap magic doesnt work, pertaining to the TOC. However, loading it through a computer would work, and then accessing on the PS2 through the HD Loader should be no problem, since its only function then would be as a directory to find the file, as opposed to ripping it.

What do you store on the hard disk? An ISO (or other format) image? If it's just the files in a directory I don't think it'd work either, last time I checked the videos didn't seem to be in the regular filesystem.
